Painted Jar lids

I love those red lid canisters that Sugar Pie Farmhouse has been talking about. So I thought for snacks and other things I would paint my quart wide mouth jar lids red.I bought a box of plastic wide mouth lids at Walmart and a can of Paint for plastic.( I have uses this on lawn furniture and it works great and doesn't come off!) You can see how nice they turned out. They are not air tight lids. So to make them air tight put one of those medal air tight canning lids inside of the plastic lid and screw it on. Works great!
I use them mainly for nuts, dried cranberries, cherries, dates and other dried fruits. If you put healthy snacks in them you won't be tempted to eat other things. Your eye will go to these first. I also use these jars to store all my teas in. Also beans and such. the ideas are limitless. Also the colors are too. You can label them with those wonderful chalk ink markers.
The tea towel I have there is an old vintage table cloth that was cut up and make into several tea towels. Especially those ones that may have a hole in them. Make great aprons too!
Enjoy this project!! I would like to see yours. Leave a comment when you post it and I will come by.
God bless your day!! Sharon

Hi Sharon your jar lids look great I have never tried the paint for plastic but I have painted some before with just black spray paint and have been pretty lucky that the paint has lasted as long as it has but now I might have to try this my kitchen is country/prim at the moment...good tips on using up the tables clothes too..
Hope you have a great day..

Sharon, I had no idea they made plastic lids for mason jars! That would be great in my kitchen. I use mason jars a lot. Thanks for the tip about putting the metal flat lid on the inside to make it airtight. : )

Hi Sharon,
I have the red canisters that sugar pie has and I really like them. What a good idea painting the lids of jars. I didn't know there was a special paint for plactics. Guess I need to get out more. HA
That Red Apron you are wearing looks like the same pattern as the green dot one on sugar pie's site, is it? Did you make it?
Enjoyed looking at your site.
