A Simpler Life

A Simpler life

This is part of an article I found that I thought was interesting. We are so eager to fill our homes, yet so disinterested in cleaning it out. As a result, we now require larger spaces, more storage space, and more clutter for the mind. Did you know that there are more self-storage facilities in North America than there are McDonald’s restaurants? We find it difficult to reduce the amount of stuff we own is due to our attachment to these things.
Free Your Space - When we are reminded of something we own but never use, we can impose self-inflicted guilt for leaving it unused. For example, my mother owns a several exercise machines which are rarely used. Each time she sees them, she forces herself to feel guilty. Her guilt eats away at her inner, mental space. Our outer world is a reflection of our inner world. By cleaning out and simplifying our outer space, our inner space will open up like a flower.
Appreciation - The less we have, the more attention we can give those things we own and truly need on a regular basis. Appreciation is the seed for abundance; abundance of the mind and the soul. It’s pretty amazing how little we actually need. When we clear our homes and our lives down to the essentials, we are able to better enjoy that which we do have.
Nothing external to us can give us permanent and true happiness. We actually have all we need to be truly happy, Christ within us.
Oh the Joy of being His child and knowing He is always there.
May God Bless you!!

Hello Sharon,
Reading this reminds me of one of my favourite songs'Feel free' by Pia :
'Feel free like the breeze
dance under the moon
sing beneath desire trees,
please
free your mind and heart and
be happy'
Wish you a wonderful weekend,
Sylvia

Hello, my friend! I was so blessed to see your comment on my Xanga page! Thank you so much for reading through all of what I shared, and yes, actually I have the book by Sarah Young, 'Jesus Calling' right here next to me! It is very encouraging, and always seems to have the right word when I need it! I don't share the more personal things here on my blogger site ... I've shared more with the friends I have had on Xanga over the past five years ... can't believe it's been that long since I joined there! Time has certainly flown!

It's wonderful to hear that you've lost all that weight! How did you do it?! I'm needing to lose that much if not more ... I've noticed, as I've gotten older, that it's so much harder to lose, and even easier to gain! I bet you're so excited to see you son ... a year is a long time. It was almost 2 years before we saw our son the time he visited just before he finally came home. So good to get those hugs we missed so much! Honestly, I don't believe it was ever meant for families to be so far apart! We all need one another, that's why God created 'families'! You enjoy that time you have with him, though. Sounds like you're enjoying being a grandma, too! I'm looking forward to the day when my son and his wife have a baby ... that will bring such joy to our hearts, not to mention it will keep us younger, too! :) Yes, it is a blessing that my husband's work is still fairly consistent now ... at the beginning of the year not many were working in his field, but with the arrival of spring, things began to pick up, and we're very grateful! Thanks so much for bringing me up to date with you and yours!

I read over on your Xanga site that you were basically closing it down ... I completely understand! Trying to keep up two of them isn't easy. I do often think of the friends that I've made over on Xanga, though, and wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to try to keep them updated, at least once a week. There are only a handful left over there, but I am thankful that they do still visit even after my long periods of absence! I do enjoy it here on Blogger, and have a few friends now. I am glad that you'll be keeping this one up from time to time, too. I also want to say that this post is one I've needed to read! We've accumulated so much over the years, and we're now seeing how burdensome it can be! My son and his wife are having a garage sale soon, and we'll be one of their biggest contributors! :) Thank you for sharing this ... I might just have to borrow it if you don't mind ... and I'll give you the credit, of course! :) I know others who would appreciate this, too! I told my husband back 20 years ago, that we should have opened one of those self-storage facilities! We know people that do own them, and you would not believe the things that are just left there, abandoned because they can't pay the storage fees! They have auctions to get rid of it all!

Well, it was so good to catch up with you, Sharon! You go and have a blessed summer, and enjoy that precious family of yours!

Hugs,
~ Deborah <><
